A fast-moving clipper system arrived Thursday with some snow for parts of Massachusetts.
Much of the state, including the Boston area and North Shore, will see between a coating and one inch of snow before the precipitation changes over to rain, StormTeam 5 meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon said.
Southeastern areas and Cape Cod will see the flakes mixing with rain.
“Not a lot of snow, clearly, but it is going to impact the morning commute,” Fitzgibbon said. “The timing is not great.”
The system will push offshore around 9 a.m. and sunshine will return by afternoon. Any snow that has accumulated will likely begin to melt as temperatures reach the upper 30s or lower 40s.
Next, meteorologists will turn their eyes to a storm developing along the Gulf Coast. Fitzgibbon said that system is likely to bring rain to our region over the weekend.
